That’s a phrase you may recognize from the Disney canon, but it comes from an expression that is used to describe a very common trait among the characters of “The Happily Ever After”—they are all very disinclined to take themselves too seriously. The expression was coined as a way to describe how the Disney Company itself, and by extension, the whole Disney family, take themselves so seriously and play so hard that they constantly have to change how they approach life.
Well, the Disney family (and by extension, the whole Disney corporation) tend to play hard because they want their characters to be more likeable, more normal, more human. It takes a lot to make someone who you’re going to instantly recognize, but the Disney family, unlike many others, are actually quite good at it (and they’re not afraid to put their own spin on things when there is a plot to be made).
Disney’s rule 34 is a bit more complicated because it’s a rule for the whole family. The rule is that no matter how many times the Disney family is seen to be having a good time, they won’t go to Disney World the next day.
Disney are famous for making the most entertaining, fun, relatable family films. The rule makes the whole family look better, so the rule is often ignored because the family is having such a good time. And yes, I do mean that in a good way.
In the beginning, the whole family is having a good time. In fact, the rule was only enforced because of the last time the family had been to Disney World, which was when the children were little. As the family grows older, the rule is almost never enforced, though it is often ignored.
As the rule is ignored, the rule becomes part of the family’s own life, even though the rule could be a nice break from reality. In fact, the rule often becomes an excuse to get out of reality, since as soon as the family is gone for a few days, their reality is set back to the past. Even when the family has a good time, they are rarely as happy as they were when they were a family, and this causes them to often be bored and unhappy.
So, to make it clear, I am not talking about the rule being ignored in a family, because the rule can be ignored without causing a break from the family’s reality. I am talking about the rule being enforced with a heavy heart, like a stern parent.
The reason people are not happy when they have no idea of who they are is because they don’t have the time to get to know the family. In fact, I’m not talking about the family’s reality being ignored by therule. I’m talking about the parents’ reality being ignored for the sake of the parents. We’re talking about the reality that they’re actually, well, happy.
Disney’s rule 34 is that if you don’t like the way your family lives, you dont have to like them. But there’s a catch. If you don’t like the way you live, you can’t be a part of your family. Why? Because you have to be a family member before you can be a part of your family. Which is a bit of a stretch. But for now, the Disney familys rule 34 is still in effect.
